2009 marks the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Clearwater and Nagano, Japan. The Sister City program was started by Dwight Eisenhower with the goal of creating a free and peaceful world. Since it's beginning, over 1,000 people have traveled back and forth between the two cities to experience goodwill tours, cultural presentations, and student exchange programs.
